Cedar Creek Lake

Highland Park

For a couple that love art and have a modern home. Clean and simple using the bones of a previous landscape. Found a beautiful sculpture that moves on its own base to enjoy a different view but the fountain sounds like he is fly fishing again in Colorado.

Greenway Parks

A design for a Dallas Interior Designer that wanted a place for her grand children to play. Her husband didn’t want to chase the dog through the neighborhood or fight to get his car out of the garage. What resulted is a total redo of the garden from the fences inward. There will be plans in the future to add a fountain, as well as a rose arbor from the covered back porch to a cover the existing patio to complement the existing covered back porch.

Revitalization of Existing Garden in Preston Hollow

... and creating new ones:

Greenway Parks

These clients wanted an easy garden to entertain in with minimal care. The first floor has an abundance of floor to ceiling window and doors with which to view different parts of the garden.

Drainage was a big concern in the back garden, so we created 2 patio areas by adding a step the full width of the back garden, inline with steep down on the stone patio. By placing the seating area in the crushed granite, the stone patio became and area for milling around with friends. This area also set to bring tables in for dinning. The iron table with a marble top, and the wall planter, are the focal point for the kitchen and family dinning area.

University Park

This couple loves to be outside with family and friends. We did a much larger patio for more seating. The biggest challenge was a very large Live Oak that blocked access to the back garden from the kitchen garden. This is the most frequently use entrance to the house (and the grilling area). Plantings were done to give privacy and reduce the view of high lighting power lines.

This family has a focus on outside living. Active children in the family also play a big role in the home. The lawn area slopped down so steeply that the play area was reduced greatly. We terraced the lawn for a gradual change and to give room for the sliding gate. By bringing up the lawn area, it appears to be much larger and is more useable. A Fort was built for the kids (Fort can be viewed in the special touches section.)

Highland Park

We redid a back patio that had been built too high above the foundation. We enhanced the front entrance to this home with retaining walls and deeper, more gradual stone steps. Before guest and delivery people tended to go to the porch door. By enhancing the entrance we made the front more clearly defined.

The previous patio, which was built above the foundation, was resulting in a dam that held water. This dam was potentially creating an opportunity for water to move under the house. We reduced the level of the patio and added drainage and waterproofing. Too often people do not know there is a problem till it is too late and support beams have rotted out. We made a point of reversing this process by making smart design choices.

Greenway Parks - Evolution of an exterior garden

Considering the client’s needs for entertaining guests and two Labrador retrievers, the garden has evolved significantly. Plus the client’s love of gardening, the area continues to evolves.
